BULLS GAP, Tenn. — You've heard him on the radio and seen him on the SPEED Channel; also on HBO's broadcast of the 2008 Prelude to The Dream at Eldora Speedway, plus listened to his comedy/prank call CD's. He's a Tennessee Vols fan and "it ain't nothin' for him to whoop a man." Now get ready to meet-and-greet the legendary Lee Roy Mercer® at Volunteer Speedway on Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 20-21 during the World of Outlaws Late Model Series "Fifth Annual Scorcher."
"I'm looking forward to getting back down to 'The Gap' to see some good dirt racing and meet the fans who will be present from not only around the East Tennessee region, but from all around the country," said Mercer regarding his appearance during the Scorcher. "Joe Loven's got a really nice place in Volunteer Speedway, and one thing that's a fact about Joe is he really loves dirt racing. He takes much pride in his racetrack. Fans will see some of the best dirt racing they've ever seen when they come to 'The Gap.' Those World of Outlaws guys will put on one heck of a show, it's going to be exciting. Back earlier this summer I was down (at the track) one night in the pits, and I'm telling you ... those cars flat-out are flying around those high banked corners."
