Crown Vics Added to July 4 Event; Rules Released
The Crown Vic division has been added to our event on July 4 and will pay $1,000 to the winner! The rules for the class going forward are shown below.
CROWN VIC RULES:
The creation of an affordable, entry level way to enter stock car racing. Keeping the car’s stock is the priority. Only Ford Crown Vic, Mercury Grand Marquis, or Lincoln Town Car 1992 or newer.
1. BODY
1.1- Remove all glass and trim.
1.2- Remove headlights and taillights.
1.2-1- may cover with sheet metal.
1.3- Doors must be welded.
1.4- Hood and trunk must have a minimum of 2 hood pins.
1.4-1- locks must be removed.
1.5- Stock steering column, may use a quick disconnect steering wheel.
1.6- Dash may be removed and replaced with sheet metal.
1.7- All airbags must be removed.
1.8- May replace front bumper with allstar part #ALL22352 or SAME
2. SUSPENSION
2.1- Stock for make and model.
2.2-All replaced parts must be OEM replacement or same stock parts only.
2.3- May adjust as factory adjustments allow only.
2.4- Spring must be stock, identical side to side, with ½’ tolerance on overall uncompressed height between the 2 sides. No progressive springs allowed.
2.5- No air ride allowed.
2.6- Front and rear sway bar must remain as from the factory with factory links or may remove front and/or rear completely.
3. WHEELS & TIRES
3.1- Stock steel or aluminum wheels only. Factory mustang wheels ok. (no racing wheels)
3.1-1- All 4 must be the same size and offset.
3.2- These tire sizes only 235/55/17, 225/60/16, and 215/70/15.
3.3- All season tires only. No performance, directional, fancy, or exotic allowed.
3.4- 350 tread wear minimum, no cutting of tires.
4. ENGINE
4.1- Must remain entirely stock 4.6L SOHC engine.
4.2- Pump gas only. (fuel kill switch may be relocated or kill all switch added)
5. TRANSMISSION
5.1- Must remain entirely stock.
6. REAR END
6.1- Must remain entirely stock
6.2- Factory 3.73 gear ratio max.
6.3- Factory limited slip, weld the spider gear or mini-spool only.
7. ROLL CAGE & SAFETY
7.1- Roll cage required!
7.2- Must be a minimum 4-point cage with 4 curved door bars on the driver’s side. Straight bars can be used on the passenger side.
7.3- Minimum 1 1/2″ x .095 round steel seamless (or DOM) tubing recommended. Must be welded to the frame not to the floor pan.
7.4- Driver door bar and / or rub rail optional. Must be flush against the body. All roll cage bars must remain inside the driver compartment, NO bars passing through the front or rear firewall.
7.5- A drive shaft hoop towards the front of the drive shaft is mandatory. Can be chain or metal strap.
7.6- Racing seat required, must be bolted to the roll cage not the floor.
7.7- 5, 6, or 7-point racing belts required, Belts must be in good working order (not frayed, torn, etc.).
7.8- Properly mounted window net is mandatory.
7.9- Fire Suit is required, as well as fire rated gloves, and shoes.
7.10- Hans device and Snell approved helmet mandatory.
7.11- Floorboard must be installed and in good condition; if holes are present, they must be patched.
7.12- Fire extinguisher is mandatory in all vehicles.
7.13- Battery may remain in stock location or moved behind driver or trunk, must be securely mounted, and covered if moved. (master cut off switch highly recommended)
7.14- Radiator must contain water only.
7.15- 2-1/2’’max exhaust pipe run to passenger side or to rear. May remove catalytic converter.
