Volunteer Speedway releases 2015 race schedule
BULLS GAP, Tenn. (Jan. 4, 2015) — Volunteer Speedway is gearing up for start of the 2015 racing season, which will be the 42nd year of exciting racing at “The Gap!”
Kicking the season off will be Homecoming at The Gap on Friday and Saturday, March 6-7, which will recognize both Scott Bloomquist and Jimmy Owens for their accomplishments in winning national touring series championships over the years. Also, several East Tennessee oldtime racers will be in attendance for a gathering inside the pavilion building for a meet-and-greet with fans.
Headlining the opening weekend of racing (March 6-7) will be a $7,500-to-win Super Late Model event on Saturday, along with Sportsman (Late Model) in a $700-to-win race. Friday night will see the Steel Head Late Model class racing for $2,000-to-win, plus Modified Street and Pure Stock racing action.
With NASCAR visiting East Tennessee and Bristol Motor Speedway twice a year for racing at the “World’s Fastest Half-Mile,” Volunteer Speedway hosts special event shows on both occasions. The 14th annual Spring Thaw on Saturday, April 18 will feature a $6,000-to-win Super Late Model main event.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series $10,000-to-win 12th annual Scorcher will be held on Thursday, Aug. 20 during summer Bristol Motor Speedway NASCAR race-week, with the fifth annual Modified Street “Havoc” the companion event on the racing program.
The Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series will be featured in four $4,000-to-win events, all Saturday shows scheduled for April 4, May 23, Aug. 8 and Sept. 12.
The Southern All-Star Dirt Racing Series is all set for running of the $5,200-to-win, third annual Scott Sexton Memorial 52 on Saturday, June 13.
The Oct. 17 racing program will see a $2,500-to-win, 100 lap Enduro event along with Sportsman, Modified Street and Pure Stock action.
Racing events throughout the season will showcase Super Late Model, Steel Head Late Model, Sportsman (Late Model), Modified Street, and the all-new for 2015 Pure Stock class.
