New clay for Volunteer Speedway
BULLS GAP, Tenn. — Taking advantage of the great fall weather in East Tennessee, Volunteer Speedway owner Joe Loven and crew are putting new clay down to help make the racing surface better at “The Gap.” Not only better, but no doubt the track will probably be even F-A-S-T-E-R!
“It’s been 12 years since we last put new clay down, and I was able last week to find some really good clay not far from the track,” said Volunteer Speedway owner Joe Loven. “Being able to find the clay close by really factored into the decision to resurface the track. Because besides the cost of buying the clay, you’ve also got to take into consideration the cost of getting it (clay) hauled.
“I’ve worked in dirt with my construction and concrete ready-mix businesses for over 50 years and I’ll have to say, this new clay is probably about the best I’ve ever held in my hands. We’ve had a good racing surface over the years, but I really feel like this new clay will only make the racing action even better.”
