Author Gary Parker releases new book on dirt-track racing – with a chapter about the history of Volunteer Speedway
BULLS GAP, Tenn. — Author Gary Parker has just released a new book on dirt-track racing titled “Red Clay and Dust – The Evolution of Southern Dirt Racing.” Parker is a retired anthropology instructor at The University of Tennessee.
Parker has been around dirt late model racing for over 50 years, and many of his racing friends talked him into finally sitting down and writing a book about dirt-track racing in the South. The book is currently the only new release out focusing on dirt-track racing, especially dirt late models.
The book “Red Clay and Dust – The Evolution of Southern Dirt Racing” is available at places such as Amazon, plus at Barnes and Noble locations.
In the book, Parker has a chapter about the history of Volunteer Speedway.
