Volunteer Speedway Cancels Racing Action for August 8

We have made the decision to cancel racing scheduled for Saturday, August 8th, 2026 at Volunteer Speedway for a few different reasons.

With impending weather, it is always difficult to take the risk on running a show or not, and there is more that goes into it than whether the rain will be too much for the surface. Sometimes, the threat of rain makes drivers and fans make other plans in advance so they can avoid last minute cancellations.

Secondly, Tazewell Speedway is scheduled to have their double feature races this Saturday night, which means many of our drivers have already made plans to be with them to finish their races from two weeks ago, in addition to racing for their regularly scheduled show.

And it is also Fan Appreciation Night at Tazewell. So, with the uncertain forecast, the potential split field of drivers and fans, we have made the decision to cancel our scheduled race.

Our next race will be on Saturday, August 29th, when we welcome back the Best Plumber 604 Series AND the Cumberland Plateau Open Wheel Modified Series for a night at The Gap.
