Rain cancels ‘Back The Gap Summer Series’ racing scheduled FRIDAY, JULY 29 at Volunteer Speedway

BULLS GAP, Tenn. — Mother Nature wins, forcing Volunteer Speedway to cancel racing scheduled Friday, July 29.

Following rain off-and-on through the week in East Tennessee and the National Weather Service forecast predicting 80-90% chance of rain on Friday, after thoroughly evaluating the situation we feel it’s best to go ahead and cancel racing.

It rained really hard this (Thursday) afternoon at Volunteer Speedway and also rained overnight Wednesday. Additional precipitation is expected overnight into Friday morning, thus making it impossible for Vic Hill and crew to prepare the surface for racing. You just can’t get a grader on the track and it muddy!

We’ve also talked with several drivers/race teams, and with the high cost of fuel to travel and race, factored in with the National Weather Service forecast of rain, it’s just best to cancel and let everyone know.

Volunteer Speedway will be looking at suitable rescheduling date for this Back The Gap Summer Series event.
